Probably, difficult-to-digest phrase...let's discuss it!
Actually this time, I stumbled on this phrase. What I have known up until now is aside as an adverb. Apparently, there is another meaning aside from 'to or on one side; away; and out of consideration i.e.:
1.A remark not intended to be heard by everyone present
-A line spoken by an actor to the audience but not intended for others on the stage (Wordweb)
-Words spoken in a play for the audience to hear, but supposed not to be heard by the other characters.(Australian Oxford)
2.A remark that is not directly related to the main topic of discussion. <- this is what it means.
What I thought before:
1.Curious is an adjective.
2.Aside is an adverb
So, as a curious aside is grammatically incorrect. It should be Curiosity aside,..
Well, to avoid ambiguity or uncommon word, I propose a more common phrase:
As a side note,
On a side note,
